originally scheduled for summer 2006, les noobiens finally managed to release their best of/rest of collection. well, what do you expect.. going through 30 years of avs presets is nothing you do on a weekend or two. being completed, les premières années features all the hit singles, the most seeked after b-sides, one or the other japan exclusive and everything else that was considered being a worthy addition. you know how it goes in tech-business, what was new yesterday is older than old today, hence some of the preset received what george lucas would call digitally remastered - same look, better looking box and even more expensive. the download is still free, but if wed charge for you bet it would be double!
- olymp unique: i like the colors, but the sound response is very poor -> dont like this one.
- le beat: muhaha, good one
- cmycle: funny. not too interesting. still ok.
- the allnighter (nemo's megaman shake): pretty cool. I like the colors. Took some time, till I saw that its a man.
- back to cursor: hmm, its ok. response is there. colors fit well.
- das kaffeeservice: good colors, sound and beat responsive. good, that you didnt add any bumpy dm or something. i like it this way.
- minidisko (nu Lesbians teeniedisko mix): hmm, a bit boring. I also dont like the colors.
- tiled waterdrops: weird. not one of my favourites but its ok.
- be square (Les Noobiens formula edit): I dont like the DM. The texture looks boring too -> Dont like it.
- 2-gummi: Ahh, this one hurts . Too flashy for me
- autobahnnetz: Ok, i cant watch this too long but its funny. I actually like this one.
- t-error: Ahhh -> U
- beat connection: One of my favs here. Weird and cool pattern. I also like the color flashes.
- blockz: Similar to minidisko but a lot better. Still not one of my favourites but ok.
- r u dijital: really good. color schemes are all good. just looks good.
- pünktchen und anton: looks good but gets boring really quick.
- scifi 1920s: A starfield... boring, sorry.
- pixfu: Now this one is good. Good movement and colors. And the widescreen fits perfectly here.
- give 'em enough scope: Good sound response here .
- mobilee: I dont like all of the color schemes, but its still ok.
- Noobworld: I like this one, one of my favs.
- 2-gummi (yathosho shakes it too): much better than the other 2-gummi. Colors have some time to change -> less headache. The hole preset looks better to me
- love-is-faye-dun-a-way: Thats sweeeet, .. but i dont like it, sorry .
- the mod-spot-ripoff: hmm, the colors are good, but it also gets boring too fast. (Ok, its the 24th Preset im looking at .. )
- 76 squares: flashy -> hurts. I like the squares tho.
- bumpy carpet: I think its boring, dont like it.
- noppa: Great pattern and colors. Really like it.
- weebly: mhhh...
- die neue elastik: moving particles again.. Bores me since its the 4 th of them i have looked at in this pack.
- back to cursor (zamuz's in depth mix): nice fake 3d effect, good colors.
Overall: Most of the presets are pretty old now. I have seen many of them before. Some of them are new to me (I propably missed them, when they were released).
Anyways, most of them work very well in full screen mode. Also with bigger resolutions since the fps is high, compared to most of the recent presets.
=> A pack i like.
Ok I'm gonna comment on the ones I havn't seen before in one way or another:
le beat: **shakes head** Silly yath! '
the allnighter: heh, it's rare that a preset actually makes me smile by making me remember something. I instantly recognised the megaman dude.
minidisko: sweet shape blending!
waterdrops: interesting effect! I havn't really seen it before, which is nice, but it gets boring quickly...
2-gummi: really like this one, nice movement.
2-GuMMi (sHakE iT Too!): probably my favorite one. Definatly love the color gradations
76 Squares: reminds me of a bad Linux screensaver. Meh.
bEAt cOnNeCTiOn (iP-oP MiX): Hmm. Interesting shapes. Similar to some of the other ones, but the harsh alias effects make it interesting
Overall: Well, a lot of it I like. A lot of it I've seen before. I've missed a lot of these when they were released, and the new ones I definatly enjoyed. You score major points for the megaman preset simply because it evoked an emotion I don't normally get from AVS.
